ANALYSIS:

This looked a warmish handicap beforehand and produced an excellent effort from top weight MORE MODERN, who followed up an easy Lingfield win with a pillar-to-post success. He wore blinkers for the second time and flashed his tail under pressure, buttrainer Roger Charlton is convinced the horse is genuine and the way he responded to his rider's urgings backs up that view. Life won't be easy off a revised mark but he has clearly not stopped improving and deserves his place in a better quality contest.
Both Mr Mahoose and Mysteri Dancer had around eight lengths to find going into the final quarter-mile and both did well to get as close as they did to More Modern. As a winner of his last two starts, Mr Mahoose's proximity does the form no harm at all, whilst Mysteri Dancer continues his unfortunate trait of getting going all too late.
Knock ran a thoroughly genuine race from close to the pace, whilst Lady Pahia was another to have plenty to do up the straight but, unlike the second and third, never really went through the gears.
Further back, Min Mirri ran better than her eventual finishing position suggests. Denied a clear passage repeatedly inside the final two furlongs, she was going on quite strongly close home without being given an excessively hard time and looks capable of winning a handicap over this trip before too long.
City Of London needs to be dropped a few pounds.
