ANALYSIS:
This was a messy race and there were a couple of hard-luck stories among the backmarkers.
Three-year-old NEMO FUGAT had been off the track since finishing down the field at Newmarket in May but left that form behind with a useful effort against a field comprising mainly older horses.
Forever Times made a race of it with him, but she was never doing quite enough.
Semper Paratus had disappointed twice since his good win at Kempton but was better here, although he needed a reminder at around halfway.
Pedro Jack and Beyond Calculation ran their races, and the latter is probably simply too high in the handicap again now.
Taranaki ran just respectably in the first-time blinkers, but this 6f is on the sharp side for him.
The eye-catchers, further back, were Cashneem and Hard To Catch, neither of whom saw any daylight in the final furlong or so. They gave the impression they might well have finished on the premises but for repeatedly being denied a run.
