ANALYSIS:
The withdrawal of Stewards Cup third
Undeterred after he bolted to post and unshipped his rider reduced the
class factor but the topweights still dominated in a strongly-run contest.
SUNLEY SENSE used his five furlong pace to build a clear lead and
he just hung on for a first win over this extra furlong. Trainer Mick
Channon said: "He's been having a hard time to make it over five furlongs
and I thought if he could just hang on to him he might last home and he
just has."
Cubism, who didnot get the clearest run in the Stewards' Cup, was
not asked for his effort until the final furlong and flew home. He has a
chequered history but the last two showings suggest he is ready to strike.
Adantino looks a horse without a trip as he struggles to get home
over seven furlongs but does not have the all-round pace for this trip.
Sussex Lad was buried in the pack and took time to extracate himself
before staying on without threatening to win this race for the third year
running.
Mr Stylish caused problems in behind with Cashneem chopped
off early before staying on steadily only to have nowhere to go again
inside the final furlong. Sabana stayed on over a trip short of his
best to suggest his turn is approaching.
