ANALYSIS: This did not take a lot
of winning, but victory under a big weight by MEELUP was
still a fine effort from a horse who was competing in banded company
just a month ago and has since been successful on a trip to Jersey.
He did hang under pressure in the straight, but having grabbed a
handy lead off the turn he was always in command from the furlong
mark.
Mac's Elan, who has been tried at up to 1m6f, came from well
off the pace for a good second and he should be able to pick up a
little race over1m2f+ off his current mark.
Champain Sands, a recent winner over 1m1f, ran a sound race
over this shorter distance but is almost certainly better over
further. This trip is probably just about right for Acuzio,
but he is proving a difficult horse to place to best effect.
Unlucky horse of the race was Midshipman, stopped twice in
the straight, and he was finishing strongly over a trip that is on
the sharp side for him these days.
Seb Sanders reported that Colour Code lost his action.
