ANALYSIS: This did not take a great
deal of winning. ELIDORE had not found a race for three
years, but she had hinted at an early return to winning ways when
third in an amateurs' race here a week ago and repelled allcomers on
this occasion for a game win.
Kaymich Perfecto, who had come from well off the pace when
winning at Redcar on Sunday, confirmed form from that race with
Zafarshah and Distant Country. But he had a lot to do
from halfway here and, having been switched wide to deliver his
challenge, never really looked like pegging back the winner.
Divinsky, who is probably better at 7f, had finished behind
Elidore here last week and again found the mare too good, while
Sheriff's Deputy, who may be better over slightly further, could
only plug on at the one pace. The fitting of first-time cheekpieces
made no evident difference to his performance.
John Egan reported that Il Pranzo was unsuited by the track,
while Richard Thomas reported that Inescapable ran too freely
early on.
