ANALYSIS: The most experienced of these was BUCKEYE WONDER, a brother to top-class winners in Japan and the United States.
He had looked promising enough himself in three Newmarket maidens - finishing second and fourth over a mile last backend, and then runner-up to Ecomium on his return over 10f in April - and broke his duck here in tenacious fashion.
Leading from the off, he was strongly pressed inside the distance by Golden Island, and prevailed under a strong drive despite conceding the filly 5lb. This looked a decent enough maiden, and Buckeye Wonder should mark his mark in decent company.
Ribblesdale entry Golden Island had made a favourable impression on her seasonal return, finishing fast to be third in a Goodwood fillies' maiden last month, and she again ran well here. She would have to improve to take a hand in the Ribblesdale, but is going the right way and there is no reason her trainer should not run her at Royal Ascot.
Zangeal, a half-brother to High Accolade, had caught the eye on his debut on the Lingfield Polytrack in February, doing everything wrong but still finishing fourth of 14. He went one place better here, and should prove even better over 12f.
Warningcamp ran an encouraging race on his debut and should go on from here.
At 230,000gns, Qudraat was the second most expensive yearling by his sire (In The Wings) at the sales in 2002. He has a middle-distance pedigree and stayed on well to be fifth.
A half-sister to winners over a variety of distances, Shazana ran a fair race, while Encompass, who has an excellent middle-distance pedigree (dam a sister to Derby winner Commander In Chief), got tired and should do better.
