ANALYSIS: An average claimer. CHAMPAGNE SHADOW had been claimed out of Kevin Ryan's yard after winning a similar event at Lingfield last week and, despite hanging under pressure in the straight, he proved good enough to confirm form with North Walk, who has regressed quite a bit since winning off a mark of 72 as a juvenile and needs to be dropped significantly before he is competitive again in handicaps.
Rudry World won a weak seller from Brastar Jelois here in April and stepped up on that effort with a staying-on second. He could even be counted a shade unlucky, as the winner came across him a furlong out and his jockey had to stop riding for a few strides.
Itcanbedone Again, who won twice here early last year but has been on a losing run since, did not have the best of runs approaching the home straight. He had his chance off the turn, though, and was simply not good enough.
Atlantic Gamble, who notched a four-timer here early in the year but has found things harder since, had every chance turning for home but fell away disappointingly in the final furlong.
